Centralised Accounting Organisation

The main function of the Centralised Accounting Organisations (CAO), which consists of the director and 7 bookkeepers, is to provide accounting and auditing services to circuits and organisations within the Methodist Church of Southern Africa (MCSA) that do not have the capacity to perform these functions themselves.

The provision of these services was originally considered to be a mission outreach to needy circuits and organisations, but the services provided also contribute to good governance by ensuring that all tax, legal and ethical implications are complied with.

Currently, these services are provided to approximately 220 circuits and organisations. Furthermore, the CAO manages the finances and prepares financial statements for a number of districts and other church organisations. The MCSA bursary schemes are also managed by the CAO.
