IN AN ATTEMPT TO ENCOURAGE CIRCUITS TO MOVE FROM MAINTENANCE TO MISSION AS CALLED FOR BY THE MISSION CHARTER THE DISTRICT IDENTIFIED 5 FACILITATING GOALS THAT WERE OPERATIONAL BETWEEN 2004 – 2008.
  1. Build ministerial capacity by 25% in 3 years.
  2. Developing a Training Model to empower local lay leaders. 
  3. Developing 15/20 HIV & AIDS care and support sites.  
  4. Evaluating and re-shaping our Church economy in order to build Mission capacity. 
  5. Implementing integration within key areas of our Church life 
THE FOLLOWING SUMMARIZED OUTCOMES WERE RECORDED AFTER A 5 YEAR ASSESSMENT·         
  • Capacity exceeded 25%
    • 10 more Ordained ministers & as many as 50 new Lay ministers.   
    • The district also created the capacity building PelonomiFund·        
  • Training opportunities;
    • these were limited to Superintendents consultations’ District Treasures workshop, Annual Children’s ministry consultations, Food gardening training projects. 
    • The District appointed a field and a Mission worker the help the project facilitation and training·        
  •  HIV & AIDS;
    • 5 Multi-purpose sites. 20/25 single purpose ministries have been registered·        
  • Financials;
    • Improved management, but there has been limited strategic planning for Mission.  
    • District has appointed an audit team·         
  • Integrations;
    • Improved integration of children,
    • but slow development on the other fronts 

 

THE 3 KEY DISTRICT MISSION OBJECTIVES (FOR THE  PERIOD 2009 – 2012) 
  1. Growing the effective witness of the church 
    • Capacity – More ministers Ordained and Lay, creating more Mission teams 
    • Training – Identifying and training Society Shepherds & Lay leaders 
    • Integration  - Opening opportunities for integration, eg. Race, Gender, Youth & Children
  2. Growing inwardly towards personal transformation 
    • Evangelism – Preaching and practicing a personal faith that becomes the foundation for maturing Discipleship 
    • Spirituality – Enabling our people to deepen spirituality to become channels for healing and transformation.
  3. Growing towards social transformation - FIGHTING 
    • HIV & AIDS – Continuing to formprojects & networks in the regions 
    • Poverty & Injustice – Creating empowerment projects, and forming strategic alliances to challenge poverty, injustice and corruption
